Color Seal II™
Tinted water-base semi-transparent curing compound and sealer for
Colored Concrete

Description
Color Seal II™ is a membrane forming acrylic co-polymer sealer
which is sprayed-on fresh colored concrete as a curing compound. It
is used instead of water curing or plastic curing sheets which can
discolor the slab. Color Seal II™ Keeps water in the slab while it
cures which helps prevent cracking and optimizes final hardness. It
also dust proofs and seals the surface to protect against water
damage and most stains. It is semi-transparent and tinted in 40
different shades to match our color card for integrally colored
concrete.
USE: NEW COLORED CONCRETE:
Applied as a curing compound to prevent rapid evaporation and promote
proper slab hydration for strength and hardness. When applied in very
thin coat, also used to hide minor surface discoloration. Second and
third coats are used to completely hide or paint over the concrete.
Common concrete applications are for decorative residential and
commercial concrete such as driveways, patios, walkways and cart
paths in both interior and exterior applications.
OLDER COLORED CONCRETE:
Color Seal II™ is applied in light coats over existing colored
concrete to renew the color appearance and seal and protect against
moisture damage and most stains.
LIMITATION:
Color Seal II™ does not color uncolored concrete. When used to paint
over stains or discoloration, can appear glossy, unnatural or be
susceptible to tire marks. Color Seal II™ will wear sooner when used
on warehouse floors, floors subject to chemical or acid exposure,
steel wheel or fork lift traffic or high degree of abrasion. When
wet, sealed surfaces will be more slippery than unsealed surfaces,
Final sealer color is matched to our printed color card. Actual color
of unsealed concrete may differ from sealer. Do not use on exposed
aggregate finishes. Do not use on sections which will receive
concrete overlays, toppings, coatings, joint sealants or on areas of
poor drainage or as a membrane barrier against hydrostatic water
pressures.
COMPOSITION:
Proprietary emulsion of modified acrylic co-polymer, water, long
alcohol, pigment, surfactant.
PACKAGING:
Two gallon plastic pail. Shipping weight 18.5 pounds (8.4 kg).
Minimum quantity for pallet shipment 32 gallons (16 pails). Weight
including carton for parcel or overnight shipment 20.0 pounds (9.1
kg) each.
Surface Preparation
FRESH COLORED CONCRETE:
Apply after all bleed water and surface sheen has evaporated,
finishing has been completed and concrete has achieved an initial set
HARDENED COLOR CONCRETE:
Clean surface or oil, grease, dust, dirt or foreign matter. Rinse
with water.
OLD, DUSTY COLORED CONCRETE:
Clean surface or oil, grease, dust, dirt or foreign matter. Remove
dusty surface with light-duty concrete cleaner or a solution of 1
part Muriatic (Hydrochloric) Acid diluted with 20 parts water. The
flush completely with water.
Application
- Protect Surrounding structures from overspray.
- Choose Color Seal of the same color as the concrete.
- Loosen pigment from bottom of pail with stirring tool and stir
until color of liquid becomes homogeneous. Color of liquid will
appear lighter than final shade when dry.
- Apply when ambient and surface temperature is above 45° F (7° C)
and expected to remain above fro at least 12 hours.
- Apply to surfaces that are dry or damp but not wet.
- Apply with new or clean airless or pump sprayer that is free
from any resin, oil or solvent residue.
- Use sparingly with sprayer on lightest mist setting for
maximum atomization of spray. Ordinary pump canister sprayers for
garden or construction use will NOT atomize spray adequately. Use
canister spray designed for application of wood finishes or form
release agents with the smallest available flat-fan spray tip (.10
to .30 GPM). A powered airless sprayer produces the best spray
pattern.
- Apply then coat, otherwise finished surface may appear
"painted".
- Fog lightly over sloped surfaces or impressions to prevent
runs and streaks.
- Do not allow sprayer to spit or sputter. Unclog nozzle and
repressurize before continuing.
- If clogging continues, empty sprayer back into pail. Clean and
flush sprayer with hat water. Then pour sealer through fine
strainer or cheesecloth when refilling.
- If spray equipment is not available, a short knap paint roller
can be used. However, a roller may leave streaks and overlap marks
and will result in a "painted" appearance. For best results, use a
powered airless sprayer.
- DILUTING/THINNING: Clean water may be stirred in to
make sealer more transparent. Gradually add water and test apply
until sealer dries to desired transparency. When thinned, Color
Seal II may form an incomplete seal and will not form and adequate
curing membrane on fresh colored concrete. Thinning voids
specifications and warranty.
Precaution
- Test apply to small area. Let dry and approve color and finish
before proceeding.
- Over application will result in a thick coat that can look
unnatural and could remain "tacky" When heated by sun light. Thick
coats also show tire marks and tire "prints" more than thin coats.
- Puddles or drips should be wiped up before they dry.
- Do not apply if rain, dew or water exposure is expected within
24 hours after application.
- Do not apply in dusty conditions. Dust and dirt will adhere to
the product when wet and be locked into it as it dries.
- Color Seal II™ will not adhere properly to waxy, painted or
otherwise sealed surfaces. Other curing agents or waxes must be
stripped completely before attempting to apply Color Seal II™.
- DRY TIME: Color Seal II™ will skin over in 30 minutes
and harden in approximately 4 hours. Allow 24 hours to dry
completely. Weather conditions can retard or advance dry time from
1 to 8 hours. Dry takes longer when applied as a curing compound
on fresh concrete. If a second coat is desired, allow the first
coat to dry over night before re-application. Make certain the
sealer is hard before resuming floor traffic. Allow at least 7
days before resuming automobile parking.

CLEAN UP:
Use soap and water promptly after application, before sealer is
allowed to dry.
MAINTENANCE:
Color Sealed surfaces can be kept clean by washing with soap and
water. Abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, acids and some floor
strippers can damage the sealer finish. So can normal wear and tear.
Color Seal II™ may be reapplied to damaged or worn areas. Use a
trigger spray bottle or paint brush for touch-ups.
